Unit 7 - Culture

Have you noticed the houses in the logo above? Since houses are a product of human activity, they are part of our material culture and can tell us a lot about social change.

What do the changes in housing styles tell you about social change in America? What can you tell about American culture just by looking at these changes in housing styles?

Remember that the goal in this exercise, as in your final paper, is to demonstrate your understanding of the concept of culture and of cultural change. If you need to know about the concept than is covered in the lecture, use the resources at the end of the lecture.
