Description Large brown rodent, webbed hind feet. Tail is long, round and mostly hairless (unlike beaver or otter).
Skull Characteristics Large infraorbital foramen, one of two large hystricomorphous rodents. Paroccipital process extends well beyond auditory bulla (distinct from porcupine). Lophate, prismatic teeth with rounded enamel loops.
