Diet herbivore (primarily)
Habitat Native to Oregon oak and conifer forests, traveling the tree canopies feeding on acorns and cones. They also forage on the ground, eating fungi, acorns, bark, and vegetation.
Description Body, tail and face gray, not red. Tail fringed with white fur. Venter white.
Skull Characteristics Small P3 usually present. All Sciurus tree squirrels have similar characteristics: Zygomatic arches mostly vertical, not twisted to horizontal as in ground squirrels. Skull more angular, less streamlined, with a more robust postorbital process than ground squirrels.
