Description Smallest rodent in OR, hind foot <20 mm. Grayish yellow to reddish buff above, with darker hairs that vary from paler to darker with color of soil; venter buff, brownish, or white. Tail pale brown and darker at end, not distinctly bicolored. Use range map for species ID.
Skull Characteristics Small - Occipitonasal length < 24 mm. “Wings” on arches smaller and auditory bullae less inflated than Dipodomys.
