Description

Subfamily: Neotominae

Short tail, length ~1/3 of body and head, tail relatively thick. Body large cp. to P. maniculatus. Total length ~14 cm, tail ~4 cm.

Skull Characteristics

Skull: Length ~2.6 cm. No deep groove in incisors (cp. Reithrodontomys). Coronoid process higher than condyloid process (contrast similar species). 

Molars as other small Neotominae: Cuspidate with 2 longitudinal rows of cusps (cp. Muridae)
