| Description | Dorsum fur tan-gray with black tips, venter and feet pale. Tail very short (<30% head and body length), somewhat bicolored. |
| Skull Characteristics | Auditory bullae inflated, visible from dorsal aspect. 3 loops on lingual side of M3 (cp. Microtus and Myodes). On lower molars, reentrant angles (notches between loops) on lingual side are about equal to the labial side (cp. Arborimus and Phenacomys. |
