Habitat Shorelines from California to Mexico (map represents breeding range). Males usually migrate north to British Columbia after breeding.
Description Adult males have a pronounced sagittal crest and lighter pelage. Back flippers are coated with black stubble.
Skull Characteristics Large sagittal crest. 5 upper cheekteeth, no gap, or small gap, between last upper premolar and single molar (sometimes 6 as in these slides). Palate not notched at posterior margin. Postorbital process usually somewhat pointed.
