| Description | Adult males have a pronounced sagittal crest and lighter pelage. Back flippers are coated with black stubble. |
| Skull Characteristics | Large sagittal crest. 5 upper cheekteeth, no gap, or small gap, between last upper premolar and single molar (sometimes 6 as in these slides). Palate not notched at posterior margin. Postorbital process usually somewhat pointed. |
