Description Large, males up to 19m, females 12m. Huge head, large conical teeth, single blowhole at front of head. Dorsal fin basically absent. Largest of 3 sperm whale species, but the other 2 species are in another family.
Skull Characteristics Cetacean subgroup Odontoceti.
Notes Formerly called Physeter catodon.
