Thomomys talpoides (northern pocket gopher)

| Description | Fur can vary from a grayish brown to yellowish-brown, with lighter belly. Usually has a small but well-defined black patch behind ear. Tail usually brown, feet white. Smaller than T. bulbivorus. Difficult to distinguish by pelt from T. mazama, which is similar in size and coloration but distinct in range.
