Nutritional and Energy Expenditure Analysis

In this lab you will be evaluating your diet for nutritional quality, assessing your energy expenditure, and looking the balance between the two. Assessing the quality of your diet will give you the information you need to improve your diet or to confirm already good habits. In order to improve/maintain your desirable body composition, you need to consider the energy balance. In this lab, you will estimate caloric expenditure of your daily activities and compare this to your dietary intake to determine your personal energy balance.

Note: In order to begin this lab you will need the completed journals and logs and the results from the nutritional analysis found in lab 2.

Instructions for completing the assignment

    1. Save the following .rtf or .txt files to your local hard drive.
    2. Open the files and type your progress for each assignment. Save.
    3. Complete the assessments as described under LABS tab.
    4. Remember to go through the entire lab before completing your assignments.

Forms

Typical Daily Energy Expenditure or .rtf
Worksheet that finds your average daily energy expenditure and compares it to your average caloric intake.
Dietary Analysis or .rft
Gives the percentages of your diet makeup and what normal ranges should be
