• During set-up beneficial to have some feed in bunk
• Once cattle have been started on final diet
  • Ensure cattle are consuming adequate amount
  • Relatively constant level of intake over time
• Bunk reading
  • Last mouthful of feed consumed as feed truck is delivering additional feed
• Bunk reading
  • Clean or “Slick” within a 24 hr period

    or

  • Clean bunk in a 20 hr period
    • Challenge cattle to increase their intake
  • Net effect of intensive bunk mgt – max feed intake with minimal day-to-day variance
